LGT Capital Partners becomes a member of the Swiss Climate Foundation

10 January 2022

LGT Capital Partners will support the Swiss Climate Foundation by donating the funds resulting from the redistribution of the CO2 levy to develop climate-friendly products and reduce CO2 emissions.

As part of LGT Capital Partners' ongoing commitment to reducing the firm’s carbon footprint and addressing climate change, LGT Capital Partners is joining the Swiss Climate Foundation. With its commitment, LGT Capital Partners will continue to contribute to climate action in the future by efficiently using the refund of the CO2 levy paid and donating it to the Swiss Climate Foundation.

The financial support enables the Swiss Climate Foundation to promote projects of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that focus on innovative solutions that contribute to climate protection. To date, the foundation has supported over 2,100 SMEs in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein with a total of CHF 33 million.

Joining forces to counter climate change
LGT Capital Partners, together with 27 other partner companies from Switzerland and Liechtenstein, is committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions in Switzerland by 2050. To reach this goal, an important focus of the Swiss Climate Foundation's work is on innovative solutions that benefit the climate. For example, new technologies for more sustainability in the building sector and in agriculture, negative emission technologies or solutions in the field of circular economy.

Thomas Hügli, Chairman of the Board of the Swiss Climate Foundation, said: "We are very pleased to have LGT Capital Partners as another strong partner company at the Swiss Climate Foundation. The climate goals of Switzerland and Liechtenstein can only be achieved through determined and joint action. Our growing voluntary initiative from the business community, which supports innovative SMEs in implementing effective climate protection projects, contributes to this."

Pius Fritschi, a Managing Partner at LGT Capital Partners, adds: "Joining the Swiss Climate Foundation underscores our efforts to support the goal of net zero CO2 emissions. We are convinced that everyone can make a contribution and by joining forces we can actively contribute to climate protection through innovation."
